The Youth Highland Wildcats will face the Farnham Knights in Round 1 of Britbowl XXVII in Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster on 21 September.
After a strong regular season the Highland Wildcats were one of the first teams to qualify for Britbowl this year having won the Scottish Conference back in June. However, with some teams dominating in the other conferences in the BAFANL Youth League, it has left them at fifth seed out of eight teams that will compete on the day to be crowned UK Champions.
Being fifth seed has its advantages though. The main one being that the Wildcats don’t have to wait until all of the Wildcard tournaments have been played before finding out who they will be playing in the first round. This has been confirmed as the Farnham Knights.
Farnham finish their season winning 10 games and picking up only one loss along with a tie. Very similar to the Wildcats who came away with 9 wins, two ties and one loss at the end of their regular season.
Also qualified for Britbowl: Birmingham Bulls, Kent Exiles, Woodham Warriors and Edinburgh Wolves, after their surprise (but well fought) victory against the East Kilbride Pirates in the Scottish Wildcard Tournament two weeks ago.
