Today saw some Wildcats players making some improvements to The Blitz and also putting some finishing touches on equipment for the Highland Academy Community League starting in the new year.
The Blitz had undergone a massive clear out in the summer. At a Young People’s Panel meeting earlier this month it was decided to do a few more “upgrades” before the start of the Community League and National League seasons next year.
Cameron Davies, Haris Ryalls, Euan Crawford, Daniel Woodley, Dave Paulin, Colin Hamilton, Joshua Fox, Chris Shaw and Robbie Paulin all helped to get The Blitz up to scratch.
2 tonnes of gravel were shoveled into place, 60 old decals were removed from helmets, 45 new helmets were assembled and coded, 3 rooms vacuumed, 2 changing rooms swept out and cleaned and a brand new welcome sign was put up at the entrance to The Blitz.
The Wildcats would especially like to thank Andy Crawford who personally donated money to buy gravel for the outside area of The Blitz and to Joshua Fox, Euan Crawford and Cameron Davies who did some extra work towards the end of the day to extend the gravel path round to an outside storage container for field equipment.
Youth Development Officer, Robbie Paulin said, “It was great to see the players taking responsibility for their own practice facilities. The club benefits hugely from people volunteering their time but I think the young people involved also gain a lot from realising that this is their club and they have control over the facilities and how well the programme can be delivered. After a lot of work over the last 6 months I finally think we’re ready for the new Community League which starts in just a few weeks time!”
