Practice Insight: Week 2

Article by Tom Green

HACL PracticeThe second of the combined practices for the HACL has been completed. There has been a vast improvement from the week before in technique and effort shown.Over 40 players representing the 5 HACL teams and the Black Isle Stags development team took part in the practice. Continuing on from last week, the players took part in paired tackling drills and more blocking progression. Everybody then split into their positions and along with the skills from last week the focus also went to run stepping. The groups then went into their teams for scrimmages and participated in game scenarios against each other.

It was harder than ever to pick a stand out player for the day as everyone picked up their game. However Seumus Ross – of the Culloden Academy Raptors – performed excellently during the day in receiving, and used his pace to outrun and outmaneuver his opponents. Aswell as Seumus, another player I would like to mention is Euan Crawford – of the Charleston Academy Knights – who displayed fantastic techniques during Quarterback practice aswell as patience to pass the ball during team situations.

Overall, the practice was a success and we appear to be heading forward to a level of ability which could make the youth Wildcats a title contending squad next year.
