The Highland Academy Community League has entered its second season and the first of four combined practices involving all of the HACL teams took place last Saturday. Despite the snow and high speed winds there was a strong turn out from the high school teams with nearly forty players taking part in the session.
After the warm up the player were split into their separate teams to go through limited contact drills to ensure that new and veteran players alike were using correct tackling and blocking techniques.
After this the players took part in drills for their individual positions before going into a limited contact scrimmage at the end.
The head coach of the Community League, Robbie Paulin commented, “We were very surprised at the number of players even able to travel to the practice because of the bad weather conditions. I was especially pleased with the amount that we managed to get done in the practice. The staff did a fantastic job of getting everybody fitted for equipment and getting back into the swing of things after the long off season.”
